Klaudia, it's good for you to keep asking. Let me add myself to the chorus. Since templates came along in SPSS for Windows I wondered why one cannot make a template out of an existing variable, as you do when creating templates in a standard word processor for instance. Also, I have devoted long hours of wondering to the strange fact that no selection of variables is allowed in 'Apply dictionary'. Since other people (perhaps at SPSS Inc. have undoubtedly tripped on the same problem, now I wonder whether someone could come up with a solution within the existing software, or at least with a promise to fix it in future versions.

In fact, the only answer that came from SPSS after your request was a warm message sending you to SPSS.JNL in search of your ancient definitions of value labels, hardly a solution for your quest. Let us hope things improve in the future. SPSSWin, version 8.00, is said to be due around the end of this year or early 1998; but perhaps we're bound to wait to the new millenium to see this done...
