Subject:      convert charater variable about date/time into SAS date

1. I got a data that has character variables about date. They look like
4/18/95 11:31:10. How can I convert them to SAS date? I only need date
not the time.
2. Can SAS on NT Workstation access to MS access file(datebase)? I tried
to do it according to SAS/ACCESS. However, I was not successful.
