Hello, Mauno
I had exactly the same symptoms, asked SPSS technical support (as was
advised in the error message) but did not get an answer yet. But it seems
I have solved it by now. At least it did not occur any more since I
changed the win32s version.
By some incident I cannot recall any more I had the wrong win32s version
installed. It has to be version 1.25.xxx (I had 1.30.xxx). You can see
which version is installed on your system by editing the file
C:\windows\system\win32s.ini
In case you have the wrong version, you can reinstall win32s after
completely deinstalling the wrong version:
+ remove the line
device=windows\system\win32s\w32s.386
from the system.ini file
+ delete the files w32sys.dll and win32s16.dll and win32s.ini from the
\windows\system directory
+ delete the directory \windows\system\win32s and its contents.
For reinstalling, you need the SPSS base disk 6 and 7. You place disk 6
in the drive and run win32su.exe (under windows) and follow the instructions.

Hope this helps!
