Subject: Re: Syntax transformations
Actually, the Preferences choice described by William Ware affects
whether transformations
that are performed in the menus are calculated immediately or held until
a procedure is run.
If the transformations are run from a syntax window and not followed by
a procedure that
passes the data, they are 'pending' - you should see the note
'transformations pending'
in the status bar at the bottom of your SPSS window.
To execute the transformations immediately, follow your compute, count,
etc. statement(s)
with the command:
execute.
and highlight this command along with your transformation command(s)
before clicking
on the run icon. You can also force pending transformations to run by
clicking on the
Transform menu and choosing 'Run Pending Transforms' (which will only be
dark if there are
transformations pending).
