Subject:      SPSS and the Macintosh

I apologize for the delay in responding to the request about SPSS' plans
for the Macintosh.  I wanted to make sure I had the most current
information before posting it to this news group.  We have not given up on
the Macintosh market.  SPSS 7.5 used Microsoft technology extensively, so
we are reevaluating technical issues in bringing the functionality to the
Macintosh.  Our Mac customers have told us that graphics are very important
to them, and since graphics improvements are the key feature in SPSS 8.0 we
need to look closely at the technical issues involved.
 
In the meantime, we know that certain environmental conditions affect SPSS
6.1 for the Macintosh.  We're in the process of tracking down some of the
issues and will post the information to our web site.  I'll make sure that
a notice gets posted to this list as soon as the information is available.
