VIEWS - the UK SAS User Group

We had our 2nd VIEWS meeting yesterday at IBM UK. About 220 people attended (capacity 232) and we still had over 50 on the waiting list. There was no cost to attendees, since the meeting was sponsored by: IBM UK, ICL Power of 4, OCS Consulting & SAS Institute.

Agenda Highlights - "Programming for Job Security: Tips & Techniques to Maximise your Indispensability" - this paper was written by Art Carpenter (Caloxy) but presented by Tony Payne (SPS UK). A very entertaining paper which had the audience laughing in their seats.

- "Examples of Web applications in 6.12" - Nigel Law of SAS UK gave a great demonstration of the web offering of SAS. He was running SAS/IntrNet on his PC and showed how SAS can do virtually everything imaginable in allowing a user to interact with SAS via a web browser. Impressive!

- 4 papers entitled "Why use ...", covering "SAS Desktop", "SAS macros", "SQL" & "Indexes"

- SAS News, covering the Enterprise Reporter, Enterprise Miner & Data Warehouse Manager.

- Tips & Techniques, by Phil Mason

- Plus more...

Future Meetings: If you are interested in speaking at a VIEWS meeting (next one in November), then please email me. We already have a (probable) speaker from the USA for the next meeting.

Newsletter: We are creating another newsletter with all the presentations from our Conference which will be mailed out the VIEWS members (currently about 500). It will contain some additional news, tips & techniques also.

If anyone wants a copy, and is not a VIEWS member, then please email me and I shall add you to a mailing list for this issue.
