Subject: Re: C/370 Support in CICS/TS
Chris,If I read that line in an announcement letter, I'd have the same
concern and would probably voice it in the same forum. What was in the
TS 1.2 for OS/390 indicated otherwise as did some logic based on my
percieved directions of IBM/CICS, but I don't know where those other
comments from the 'third party (P.E)' came from (not to cast stones at
him/her since I read it as humor). Also, as usual I was glad for Leigh's
input. And for what it's worth, I enjoyed our debate of the 0meg
question a while back. There is a general misunderstanding of that in
the CICS community. Maybe we could get together and discuss putting out
some kind of short informational email item (tutorial so to speak) on
storage mgmt. I think you, as I, have been through several versions of
CICS and storage mgmt. Are you likely to go to the '98 CICS tech conf in
DC ? Keep up the good work and don't let comments from 'P.E.' or anyone
else deter you. I count on you, Leigh, and other experts out there to
help me when I need it !I've also tried to get at least a 1.2 'Release
Guide' as the announcement letter refers to it several times. I've also
gotten the same response so I'll have to wait till the end of the month
as well.Hey, maybe we should have some kind of get together during the
tech conf of all interested parties from this email list for dinner or
drinks or something. Or at least have a table with a 'CICS-L' sign ?
Maybe 'P.E' would be busy ? Hopefully I won't make him/her mad by saying
that. By the way did you notice 'P.E.'s' id ? Funny too I think
!Regards,Charles
Stansellcfstansell@juno.comhttp://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Heights/5443/++++++++++++++++++++++++++Charles,I,
too, saw nothing in the CICS/TS announcement letter. But the quote
fromthe VSA/ESA 4.2 announcement letter (which I included in by earlier
post) waswhere it said "Therefore, like CICS Transaction Server for
OS/390, the newCICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA will no longer
support...C/370".I think it is very likely a mistake. I contacted IBM via
ETR and they told methey had no manuals yet for CICS TS 1.2 and therefore
couldn't tell me oneway or another. I was hoping some IBMers on this
forum would know.Christopher FrankSTAR, Inc.
