I agree that SPSS 6.x is perfectly adequate ... my problem is that it
will not run under System 8 and tech support at SPSS informed me that
they do not intend to make a patch.  I assume you are running SPSS under
System 7.
 
Since you are a SAS user as well ... have you used JMP?  Does JMP run
alone (i.e., w/o a copy of SAS)?
