My hat is off (and, for those of you who remember my last posts, I am preparing it for dinner tonight) to Henry Feldman at DBMS/Copy for solving the spss to sas conversion problem. With the experimental release of DBMS/Copy, you can easily get the spss value labels applied to the newly created sas dataset (the conversion program generates sas "proc format" code that can be run in sas).
