Subject:   Re: How to import the outputted data to an input table?

In earlier versions of SPSS CROSSTABS hat an option to write data into file (with WRITE) which could be read back to a SPSS file with the standard input features (used in the times of FORTRAN and maybe somewhat strange to ODBC-Users). I hope this possibility still exists. I think there is no straight forward possibilty to to such things with TABLES. But you certainly can produce tables output as "classical" standard ascii output, that can be used in a similiar way.

There are some things I don't like about the new TABLES: Their layout is far from perfect and the possibilty to customize the format is very limited. Some formatting options have been stripped off when TABLES output was moved tho the pivot system. Now it seems to be impossible to have overlapping row labels. Any row-variable label is written left to the value labels (not in the column head as one would expect). So all tables are extremly wide and you can only fit them on a page if you use a very small font. (or you have to copy each important table to EXCEL and do the formatting there).
