Many thanks to all who replied my 'Data from IBM mainframe' question. The zoned decimal format ZDw. is the right answer. Actually I got the better answer I than I was asking for. A few years ago when I first had this kind of data, I used SUBSTR( ) and a 'little table' somebody told me 'J is -1, K is -2 ......'. Now I know ZDw. can do the trick.
