Dear SPSSer's,
I have this problem.
I am ADDING CASES, joining some SIMILAR files, in a dataset; where I have
an alphanumeric variable.
In some of these file there are no values in this variable, so SPSS read
the alphanumeric variable as a numeric one with all cases missing.
No problem, I can re-compute the variable as a STRING.
But if I already have an alphanumeric variable I got an ERROR.
I want the sintax to read te variable and DETERMINE if it is alphanumeric
or numeric, so I can do a DO IF structure.
Thanks a lot, Arnaldo Ferrari Nasi.
