According to what was said at the Futures Forum at SESUG this week, Version 7 is almost ready to ship. However, it will not be widely distributed. Approximately 100 sites will receive the V7 shipment starting roughly in October (I believe). Mass ship of V7 will start in January. Shipment of V7 will be made only to those sites that request it, in the order that requests are received. This is because SI believes that most sites are heavily involved in Y2k issues, and any mass shipment of a software update will likely sit on the shelves instead of being installed. Rather than go thru the effort to cut and distribute updates for every site, SI will only send an update to Version 7 to those sites that intend on using it.

FWIW, Version 8 is currently in the works and will probably follow V7 in fairly short order (my guess - about a year). V8 is intended to clean up any problems in V7, and to bring various V6 modules up to a V7 level (ie some things like Enterprise Miner and Jazz Front <according to my limited understanding> will still be given a Version 6 level even though Version 7 is imminent. Version 8 will bring all these modules to the same rev level.

This is sketchy, and probably has some inaccuracies, but that is my understanding based on the conversations at SESUG this week. Hope it helps.

Dave

BTW, stay tuned for Version 9 !
