How do you issue dos commands without a cursed dos window or SAS job window popping up on the screen?

The problem stems from closing word while minimized. It changes the settings in the file.

options noxwait xsync; *--{BACKUP: the file}--; x 'copy c:\msoffice\templates\ c:\msoffice\templates\'; *--{MSWORD: formats a file and closes while minimized}--; x "start /m c:\msoffice\winword\winword.exe &file /mtables&type /mexitword"; *--{REMOVE: the file}--; x 'del c:\msoffice\templates\'; *--{RESTORE: the original file}--; x 'rename c:\msoffice\templates\';

The goal is to: 1. Backup the MSWord file. 2. Run MSWord minimized to format a text file. 3. Restore the file.

I am open to all any any recommendations. Are there perhaps sas functions that perform the dos coammds without the dos windows?

Best Regards and Thank You... John, ___________________________________)
