Subject:   Jekyll duck raft

The duck numbers off Jekyll Island have dwindled significantly. I was there yesterday (Saturday 12/5) and only saw (at most) 1000 Lesser Scaup and Black Scoters. Best birds on Jekyll were a lone Semipalmated Sandpiper on the Jekyll causeway among Dunlins, and two Sandwich Terns near Blackbeard's restaurant on Jekyll. Perhaps the warm weather has fooled these birds into staying a little longer than normal.
