Yesterday Jerry McCollum of the Georgia Wildlife Federation sent me an
email about HB653. I sent it along to all of you.  Here is today's
message from Jerry. WAY TO GO GEORGIA BIRDERS!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen:
I just received a press release stating that the sponsors had decided
to withdraw House Bill 653. I also had a personal call from
Representative Bob Hanner to tell me directly that the sponsors had
decided not to proceed with the proposal. It was clear that he had
much contact with you all. Thanks to you and all your duplicated
contacts which, in effect, made the sky fall on the State Capitol
yesterday. Approximately 24 hours from the time the bill was
introduced, you all killed it. You made the phones ring and cards and
letters are still on their way in. We will maintain a constant vigil
on your behalf for such shortsided proposals and keep you informed.
Thanks again for a superb piece of wildlife conservation work. Please
pass this message to those you contacted and pass on our sincere
thanks. You all make me very proud. I remain at your service.
