Hello, I'm new to this list and need some basic guidance. I've been using the newer versions of SPSS with 'point & click' functions for analysis. Now I find that I need to learn how to write some syntax commands in order to work with large database files prior to analysis. Can anyone suggest a basic reference (with examples) on "how-to" write SPSS syntax? I am aware of the SPSS Syntax Reference book ...what do you think of this for a beginner? Are there any that are more simple to use? Thanks for any help. --
