Dear Listservers:
I saw a swallow-tailed kite today at Fort Stewart (be aware that access to
Fort Stewart is limited). It was foraging over a longleaf pine stand about
2 miles north of the Canoochee River in Bryan County. Also heard a
blue-gray gnatcatcher in full song (as full as a BGGN can get!).
The answer to the pocket gopher question is salamander (supposedly a
slurring of the words "sandy mounder").
