Subject:   Re: Errors in ODBC Captures After IE 5 Upgrade

So here it is. After the installation of IE5 there are 2 vital windows system DLL's upgraded. MFC42.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL. Both these new versions obviously have some major backwards compatability issues. After moving them to IE5's directory (thus making them IE5 specific) rather than global. I replaced them in the System directory with the older versions. Walla! I can now capture again. The problem is that I had to restart in DOS mode to shift them because they are use by windows.

Well you may have better luck than me with your latest versions I was using Ver 8.0). However bear in mind that these two files are probobly distributed my any new MS 98/99 product.

I would even hazard a guess that it is incuded in programmers tools such as Visual Basic Ver 6.0 or C++. This of course means that there will be more and more new products rolling out with these DLL's in them.

Thanks for your help.
