Michelle, if you are working for a large company, then I would be stunned and
amazed if their legal department did not have a standard Independent
Consultant's contract. Usually, you can take this "template" contract and work
with them to tailor it to your situation. It is worth looking into.
For _GREAT_ information on Independent Consulting, I would recommend visiting
Janet Ruhl's famous Web site: www.realrates.com. She offers information about
all facets of consulting, including the (real) rates that SAS programmers (and
other programmers) have reported to her. She also market books on computer
consulting. I loved her book "Answers for Computer Contractors"! It might be
worth the cost for somebody just starting out.
