Peter, I may not have been crystal clear in my last posting! Yes, of course if that 'option' does appear in v8 or later, then that would be the ideal. However, what I was trying to say is that, in the absence of that option, if one wants to retain the full potential functionality of TABULATE, it's probably better to use one of the 'workarounds' which 'trick' TABULATE into doing what one wants, rather than to completely 're-invent TABULATE' as part of a custom-written solution.
