What the hell, I'll play too.

One of my favorites is a word which is really an acronym. I've heard that it's an old Air Force term, but never having been in the Air Force, I wouldn't know. Here's the polite version:

SNAFU - Situation Normal, All Fouled Up

And in case you were wondering about FUBAR, it's Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition (politely speaking).
