Subject: How to create scenarios using SPSS 9.0 PC

Hello:

I am a graduate student using SPSS PC 9.0 to study ethnic differentials in a health outcome. I am interested in creating what I call scenarios to test for differences between the ethnic group in both the magnitude of the effects of variables along with differences that are due to group composition. I am using OLS regressions.

I want to set up these scenarios:

a) assign blacks the mean values for whites on education, everything else remains the same and run the regression.

b) assign blacks the coefficients for whites, everything else remains the same, and run the regression.

c) Additional variation on this theme.

I have tried using COMPUTE, DO IF, statements with no luck. Can anyone help, please? I am sure it is something simple I am overlooking.

Thanks.
