Subject:      Reading BMDP files into SAS/VMS 6.12

Can anyone help me to read BMDP  .sav files into SAS/VMS ver 6.12. The
recommended methods of LIBNAME XXXX BMDP etc. and PROC CONVERT both
give illegal header messages. Although there is a tech note giving a
ZAP for a similar problem, it is very old and surely not required for
ver 6.12.
        Any ideas?
