Subject: Cartographers conference

[Apologies for any cross-posting]

Nicholas Crane is giving a paper entitled "Mercator - man
behind the myth" - and doing a book signing - at the Society of
Cartographers 2002 Summer School. This takes place at
Liverpool John Moores University from 2-5 Sept 2002. It will consist
of astimulating variety of lectures, workshops, demonstrations,
visits and social activities.
Full details of the programme (including booking form),
which concludes with Alan Collinson's intriguingly entitled paper
"Why can't a map have sky?" are at:

One of the visits is to Liverpool City Library, where we
will tour the Hornby Collection of unique, rare books, the famous
domed Picton Library, the Audubon Collection & the Local Archive
of historic maps & charts.
