Subject: LC Book of Literary Maps-Missing Pages
Sender: HelenJane Armstrong <[log in to unmask]>

For National Library Week, we were preparing an exhibit on Literary maps.
We acquired a copy of the book Language of the Land: The Library of Congress
Book of Literary Maps, by Martha Hopkins and Michael Buscher, 1999. While
checking our holdings against the book, we discovered that some of the pages
are missing from this new book. Examination of the spine indicates the
pages were never there. Our copy is the GPO Regional Depository Library
Copy; SupDocs# LC 5.2:L 26/2.

Would some one else who has a copy of this book please tell me if it
includes pages 193-208? Is it possible this was a pagination problem? I am
trying to reach the publisher but there is a certain time constraint because
of the exhibit. If some one does have the a book with all of the pages,
would you be willing to photocopy those pages for us until we can get a
substitute copy. We would appreciate any assistance you might give us.

I am impressed with the publication and amount of information it contains.
I had thought making a list of literary maps was my original idea and would
involve a lot of work. It was pleasant surprise to find that someone was
already working on the project who had access to the extensive resources of
the Library of Congress.
