Dear Travis
One of our rare map collections, the Ferguson rare map collection, which has
now been scanned, has a large proportion of its collection totally
encapsulated in mylar. We use, I think, the 6mm strength mylar. Reflection
can be a problem but as long as that is realised and looked for, then it
should not be too difficult. We "mount" our maps on a vaccuum board and
scand with a PhaseBack camera which is mounted on a trolley.
Yours sincerely

I am starting a major campaign of map encapsulation. However, at some
point I would like to scan a number of these maps. Is it possible to scan
encapsulated maps, will it hurt the scan quality? Any help that people can
provide would be appreciated.

Travis
