Subject: Re: MAPS-L: images repository idea (fwd)

I for one am certainly interested in the image repository idea. It fits
right in with my inquiry concerning JPEG2000. At present it is
difficult for
individuals and smaller institutions to put up images in formats like
MrSID or
JPEG2000 because of the expense and technical expertise required to
purchase,
install, and maintain the server software. I can foresee a lot of
problems
in implementing this idea, but it might be something for organizations
of map
librarians to investigate.
