Julie:

At the University of Arizona, the Map Collection is physically located
in
the Main Library. Responsibility for it is dispersed. Circulation and
refiling are the responsibility of our Materials Access Team,
cataloging
and ordering are the responsibility of our Technical Services Team,
collection development and reference by appointment are the
responsibility
of the appropriate Integrative Services Team (such as Social Sciences
Team
or Science-Engineering Team). Then each one of the team leaders reports
directly to the Dean of the Library.

Hi all,

I'm in the last few weeks of teaching a class on map librarianship at
San
Jose State University's Library School. During the final class, August
2nd, I would like to give the students an idea of where map libraries
"sit"
within the broader library structure. If you have a minute, would you
please send me that information about your library?

To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, here is my hierarchy.

The Map Collections physically sits in the Branner Earth Sciences
Library,
which is part of the Science and Engineering Resources Group, whose
chair
reports to the Associate University Librarian for Collections and
Services
who reports to the Director of the Library.

Thanks in advance for your help with this,

Julie
