Subject: Maps article in today's New York Times

Hello,

The Business section of today's New York Times (the edition that we get
out here in the hinterlands) has an article titled Mapmakers and
Mythmakers: Russian Disinformation Practices Obscure even Today's Oil
Fields.

It deals with the continuing lack of accuracy in maps, even in this
post-Cold War era. Of course many of us still remember the stories (how
many years ago?) about the fact that the CIA produced the most accurate
map of Moscow. Give it a read if you have time or access. Linda Zellmer
