Apologies for cross-posting.
The following announcement will be of interest to many of you.
 From 4 August, the Bodleian Map Room will be closed on Saturdays, with
operations transferred across the corridor to what is currently the
Philosophy Reading Room. Opening hours will be incresed to 10.00-16.00.

*Extended Saturday opening from 4 August: changes in the New Bodleian
Library*

                      #  From 4 August 2007, OULS will be consolidating
                        all New Bodleian Saturday Services into two
                        Reading Rooms in order to be able to offer
                        extended opening hours from 10 am to 4 pm
                        throughout the year.
                      # The two Reading Rooms with extended Saturday
                        opening will be the Modern Papers and the
                        Philosophy Reading Room.
                      # You can ask for books, maps, newspapers and
                        scores to be transferred from other New Library
                        Reading Rooms for use on Saturdays in the
                        Philosophy Reading Room.
                      # You will be able to ask for Oriental and Music
                        manuscripts to be transferred to the Modern
                        Papers Reading Room on a Saturday.
                      # You can tell staff about items you want to be
                        transferred up until an hour before closing on a
                        Friday.
                      # You can make your requests in person, by phone
                        or by e-mail.
                      # If you forget to tell staff about what you want
                        to consult, we will be making two fetches of
                        open shelf material from closed Reading Rooms
                        (Maps, Music, Oriental and Indian Institute), if
                        staffing levels allow.
