Subject: Beyond WWU Vandalized materials list 2

Grim reading, indeed. Some time ago we evacuated all out Dept. of
Interior Annual Reports and associated items to locked storage, but the
number of razor jobs will perhaps never be assessed. Your list could
certainly help. Curiously, (and sadly) I saw on your earlier list a
mention of the Census of 1900 Statistical Atlas. A significant number of
the same items cited, as well as additional ones, have been hacked out
of our own volume as well. Similarly, our set of the War Dept.'s
Explorations & Surveys of 1853-54 have suffered Shiloh-like losses. It's
beyond pitiful.

I can only hope that the quality of the scans in the Serials Set
collection, offered up by Congressional Universe within LexusNexus
online, will do justice to the original maps and lithographs. Perhaps
Sir David Rumsey (he should be knighted for his efforts, for crying out
loud) will venture into this region of online exhibition.
