Please bring this announcement to the attention of any promising
undergraduate interested in pursuing a master's degree. The Department
of Geography at California State University, Long Beach, runs a highly
successful master's program, with three of our graduate students winning
the College of Liberal Arts Outstanding Thesis Award and one of these
becoming the campus nomination to the Western Association of Graduate
Schools as its best thesis, while a fourth student won a national best
thesis award in medical geography! Since 2005, 23 students have
completed their theses (out of roughly 40-45 under active supervision).
We have a solid track record in sending students on to Ph.D. programs (5
in the last couple of years), and our alumni are in demand and enjoy
excellent career paths (with virtually all in geography-related
professional, managerial, and technical positions).

A printable pdf version of our announcement can be found at
http://www.csulb.edu/geography/geomas08.pdf, which also includes a list
of faculty and their interests. Thank you.
