Subject: UCGIS Winter Meeting - CIO's & GIO's from many Fed Agencies

Dear UCGIS-interested Colleague,

The latest versions of the Feb 4 and 5 programs for the UCGIS Winter
Meeting are attached. Also attached is an Obama administration memo from
August 19, 2009 about the administration's placed-based initiative that
for the most part motivated the topic of the UCGIS winter meeting.

The reduced rate for the block of UCGIS rooms at the Doubletree Hotel has
been extended to Jan 15 for the UCGIS winter meeting.

Speaking on Thursday Feb 4, in addition to great UCGIS researchers,
will be CIO's or GIO's (geospatial information officiers) from Dept of
Interior, EPA, DHS, NOAA, and HUD, plus others.

On Friday morning Feb 5 we have an update of the Geographic Information
Science Knowledge Web intiative as well as a workforce development panel.
The afternoon will offer a chance to provide input to research,
education, policy & legislation, communication, and membership committee
activities.

Meeting registration information is at...
http://www.ucgis.org/winter2010/

The reduce rate for the block of UCGIS rooms at the Doubletree Hotel has
been extended to Jan 15.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the meeting.

best regards,
Tim Nyerges
UCGIS President
