Metrorail system coverages (links and stations) are included in the
Fixed-Guideway Transit Facilities files in the
National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD 2007)

I would be very grateful if someone could point out where it's possible
to obtain a good-quality shapefile (or other GIS file) of the Washington
D.C. area Metro system--including its alignment in the Maryland and
Virginia suburbs.

Many thanks.
