The University of Pennsylvania Library is reducing the size of its map
collection, and is offering the following maps to interested libraries.
No postage reimbursement necessary.

Since the list is more general than most N&O lists, please feel free to
contact us with questions about the maps available. Email

In most cases, Penn will be retaining the maps for Pennsylvania, New
York and New Jersey.

15 map stacks, 15-30 drawers each, 420 drawers in 52 cases

complete, or close to complete, historical collections for all states

This group is a mixture of maps from the USGS, state geological surveys,
and other state departments. There are diverse map types and types of
publications, e.g., barrier island erosion studies, coal maps, state
publications similar to the USGS investigations series,

    * *One drawer *of *Pacific Islands,* a USGS series at a scale of
      1:25,000

      maps as well, from USGS and other sources. There is one folder of
      Yosemite maps.

*11 drawers DMA World Nautical Charts*. This is the International Chart
Series. Most date from the 1980s and 1990s.

      including a Pennsylvania coal atlas.
    * *two drawers* of *City Maps *produced by USGS, most from the 1920s
      through the 1950s.
    * *One drawer *of USGS *Land Use and Land Cover* maps, which appear
      to have been produced in the 1970s.
    * *One drawer *of *Antarctica *also contains USGS maps
    * *One drawer* of *Geophysical Atlas: Norwegian Greenland Sea* and
      Geological Society charts.

*Nine drawers* of JOG maps of Canada.

*Three drawers *of the *National Atlas of Canada*

19 drawers: *three* are specific to *India, two* to *Australia* and
*two* to the *Middle East*, *one* each to *Tunisia, *Iran, the *South
Pacific* *and* *New Zealand*, and *northern Scandinavia*. Other drawers
include world and regional maps and ERTS maps.

*One half drawer* each for *Taiwan, China, Asia*; *Korea, Southeast
Asia, Ceylon; USSR Tectonic Map of Europe*. There is *one full drawer*
each for *Africa Geological; Europe; Russia*. The remaining drawers
include varied world and U.S. maps.

DMA 1301* *NA-NN*.

*One drawer* of *Ocean Maps and Charts* from various sources and include
the Indian Ocean.

mainly from the 1980s.

well as various topographic maps at 1:25 000 and 1:250 000. Most appear
to cover Massachusetts.

*One drawer NOAA Bathymetric and Fishing Maps *

*Three half drawers* *USGS Geologic Atlas of the Moon*.

*Four half drawers *of *Moon Charts and Missions* from various sources,
including NASA.

*Two half drawers* of *Mars Maps and Mariner* are USGS controlled color
and photomosaic maps of Mars.

*Three half drawers USGS 1:25,000* county and topographic maps, mainly
from Massachusetts and New York*One half drawer *of *Pacific Ocean*
comes from various sources.

*One half drawer *of *Indian Land Areas* from various sources, including
the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

*One half drawer *of *Venezuela* contains oil and geological maps, as
well as large scale maps of South America.

*One half drawer *of *Land Use and Land Cover* are 1:100 000 and 1:250
000 USGS maps.

*One half drawer *of *Pakistan *contains 1:500 000 USGS satellite images
from ca. 1977.

*15 drawers *The first four cover western Europe, another three drawers
cover eastern Europe. There are two devoted to Canada. The tenth drawer
contains the series of *U.S.-Mexican Border *maps by USGS and the U.S.
Customs Service dating from the 1980s. The next two drawers cover
Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, followed by two Central and South
American drawers. The last contains what appear to be Armenian maps.
