Financial members of ANZMapS are surely getting their money's worth this year, as The Globe issue 66, the third for 2010, is in the mail now (my copy arrived today).

Articles include:

"Place-name evidence for Eastern Sumatra in Western 'Java La Grande'" by Andrew Eliason,

and

"The Neglect of Baudin's Manuscript Charts of the Victorian Coastline", by Gregory Eccleston.

Lurkers on this list who join the Society before the end of the year will receive all three issues for 2010.

Issue 67 is expected to be published in the first half of 2011.

Additionally, the National Library of Australia has just purchased a beautiful facsimile copy of the famous Dieppe-school 'Vallard Atlas', the only original of which is in the Huntingdon Library in California. A plate from this atlas is reproduced in colour in the current Globe.
Catalogue record:

an accompanying commentary volume is expected by the end of the year.
