Congratulations Mary! It's been an honor to have known you professionally. Your leadership in the profession will be greatly missed. You now join the ranks of the other great map Librarians I have known who have served their "sentence", David, Johnny, and Helen.

I've decided that after 37 years as a map librarian,
I deserve time off for good behavior :-)
So I'm retiring from the University of California
at the end of June 2009.
All of us in my map library will
be working with the person to whom the Lab reports -
Lucia Snowhill, Associate University Librarian
for Collection Development - to make this
transition as smooth as possible.
I hasten to say I'm not retiring from map libraries
or from researching and writing in maps and geography -
for example, after I've retired, I'll finally have the time
to work with a map-library friend on an annotated bibliography of major
information sources in geography.
Very great thanks to each of you with whom
I've worked over the years, and I look
forward to continuing each of those
happy relationships after my retirement.
