The Map and Geography Round Table of the American Library Association is
proud to announce the publication, /Great Moments in Map Librarianship:
Cartoons from the First 30 years of base line/ by Jim Coombs, Associate
Professor of Libraries at Missouri State University.

Jim created the “Great Moments” cartoon in 1982, first publishing in
Vol. 2 issue 3 of MAGERT’s newsletter /base line/. Hand drawing the
cartoon for 16 years, Jim switched to Adobe Illustrator and color
production in 2008 when /base line/ when digital. Every cartoon is based
on real experiences, whether Jim’s or his colleagues’, stemming from
working with students and staff in a university map library.

Formed in 1980, MAGERT -- the world's largest map library organization
-- provides a forum for people interested or involved in any aspect of
map or geography librarianship. More information about MAGERT is
