(Apologies for cross-posting)

I am happy to announce the publication of my book, “Getting Started with
GIS: a LITA Guide”, written for librarians and instructors about GIS.
Using real-life examples of libraries that are embedding GIS into their
reference work, projects and special events, this book introduces the
reader to online mapping, GIS software, GIS data, geoportals, GIS
library services, training and much more. It’s comprised of step-by-step
tutorials to train the new user on resources that will help with patron
requests and library projects.

Getting Started with GIS: a LITA Guide may be used as a textbook in
library science programs and GIS courses, so please feel free to forward
the details to those interested.
