Well gang,

There's one proposal and one discussion paper before MARBI at ALA
Midwinter and the proposal concerns data elements for medium of
performance for music. The discussion paper brings up an idea about
adding a field to the authority format, probably in the 67X block, where
the title related to the 1XX of the authority record could be recorded.
Right now, titles are often put in the $b of the 670 field.
Increasingly, systems want to be able to act on the title data and
putting the title in a separate field would facilitate that.

The big discussion item on Saturday morning is a discussion of the
future role of MARBI as it relates to the Bibliographic Framework
Transition Initiative. There's a list of questions we'll be addressing
in the agenda posted at http://www.loc.gov/marc/marbi/mw2012_age.html.
If you have any thoughts about these issues, either come to the
meeting or email them to me.
