I promised Larry Cruse I'd get back to Gregory SHelton @ the
U.S. Naval Observatory Library concerning a patron's request
for "Piloting charts by the U.S. Hydrographic Office..." and
thought I'd share this bibliography with us netters.

PILOT CHART OF THE NORTHERN NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN.
H.O. PUB 1400C (continued by DMA NVPUB 108)

PILOT CHART OF THE NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN
H.O. PUB 1400 (continued by DMA chart 16)

PILOT CHART OF THE NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN
H.O. PUB 1401 (continued by DMA chart 55)

PILOT CHART OF SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN
          H.O. PUB 2601 (continued by NVPUB 107)

PILOT CHART OF THE INDIAN OCEAN
H.O. PUB 2603 (continued by DMA NVPUB 109)

PILOT CHART OF THE SOUTH ATLANTIC OCEAN
H.O. PUB 2600 (continued by DMA NVPUB 105)

PILOT CHART OF CENTRAL AMERICAN WATERS
H.O. PUB 3500 (continued by DMA NVPUB 106)

PILOT CHART OF SOUTH PACIFIC & INDIAN OCEANS
H.O. PUB 577 (continued by DMA NVPUB 107)

MONTHLY PILOT CHARTS OF NORTH ATLANTIC & NORTH PACIFIC
          OCEANS H.O. PUB 560 (ceased)

The H.O. Publication numbers refer to that agency name until
it became the Defense Mapping Agency when all chart and
publication numbers changed. I have heard rumors that DMA
charts 16 and 55 have been discontinued and will be coming
out in a new Atlas style format in a few months (probably
          with NVPUB numbers).

Gregory Shelton's patron sought 1920-1940 era Pilot Charts
and I can't imagine the Library of Congress Geography & Map
Division not having any of these. Defense Mapping should
retain these older back issues, but trying to find this out
might be impossible especially from a civilian. The SIO
Library does not have any items in those years. Hope this
          helps.
