Ross Togashi @ Univ. of Hawaii at Manoa inquired about status of EROS
produced Landsat Microcatalog Browsefile, & status of Landsat 4 & 5:

-Yes, envelope #446 was the last EROS produced browsefile shipment
issued. It has been replaced by EOSAT's online browse catalog. For more
info., call EOSAT @ 301-552-0547 regarding thier News Release #93-9.

-Re: status of Landsat 4 & 5: Landsat 4 is in "power-down" mode. From
the start, this satellite had power problems affecting it's ability to
acquire TM data so most LS-4 data is MSS. There has been talk, since
the failure of the LS-6 launch, of a Space Shuttle mission to bring
LS-4 down for repair (don't hold your breath). LS-5 is still
functioning, but is in "as needed" status (i.e.: not collecting data
regularly, but used as needed for things like Gulf War coverage,
disasters, etc.) to prolong it's lifespan. Who knows what the future
will bring for the Landsat program.
