Several subscribers to MAPS-L have asked for a digest option for messages.
Maps-l now has a digest option. If you use the digest option you will get one
message a day that includes all of the MAPS-L messages for the previous day.
So instead of getting, for exampe, 10 MAPS-L messages a day, you would get one
long message that included all the 10 seperate messages.

To get the digest instead of the seperate messages send a message to:
                                                   [log in to unmask]

The message should say:
                            set maps-l digest

If you do not like the format you can shift back to receiving individual
messages by sending to the listserv the following message:
                                                   set maps-l mail

I hesitate to give you all arcane listserv information because most of it
will help only a small percentage of the subscribers and may confuse the
majority. The listserv software has many options and what is 'on' at any site
and the type of mail software at each site combine to make generalizations
about what works a major potential problem. The software changes under you at
such speed that what you say with authority one day is dead wrong the next.
For the first year that Maps-L was up I followed very closely the developments
in listserv software. I have not had the time to follow developments closely
for the last year because of the time needed for daily management of the list.
So if any of you see something you think MAPS-L should be doing, send me a
message.
