Many of you know Larry (head, Map and Imagery
Lab, UCSanta Barbara), so I wanted to let you
know that last Wednesday late afternoon he
was in a motorcycle accident. Result:
broken left wrist, broken right leg
(tibia), and an amazing number of
black and blue marks. I held off on sending anything
out on maps-l until after matters had
stabilized and I had some firm info.
So - he'll be leaving the hospital and
going home on probably Thursday.
The Strange Device on his wrist stays
on for about 10 weeks. He's having
a brace made for his lower leg; I don't
know how long that will be on but medical
doctor told him he's looking at 26 weeks
for the leg to mend. I saw him yesterday
afternoon and he's doing very well.
I would suspect he won't be back at
the office for 2-e weeks (strictly a
guess on my part). We plan on having
him able to access email by sometime
early next week ([log in to unmask]
