Another source for topographic maps of Egypt would be the Russian
1:200,000 series (most sheets are from the 1980's I think). I am not sure if
the 1:50,000's are available for Egypt. These maps are sometimes available
from Omni Resources, P.O.Box 2096, Burlington, NC 27216-2096
         phone: 910-227-8300

If Omni Resources does not have the sheets for sale, I think several Map
Collections in the US have acquired the set, either from Omni or another Map
Dealer.
