Margaret,

          you might try
          http://fieber-john.campusview.indiana.edu/mapbase/index.html

this is a sheet inventory. it include nautical charts--but
maybe not Brtish ones, yet. we're linking our map series
records to it on a web version of our catalog, which is not
          evident yet.

          regards.

Hello Map-Lers,

I am not a subsciber to the list but it has been suggested that you might be
able to help me.

I am looking for an internet library catalogue which has strong coverage in
maps. I have already checked OCLC and RLIN and neither of them had records
for the maps I want.

We have about 30,000 maps to catalogue individually rather than in series. We
are cataloguing them from lists with the information provided by student
assistants. The maps are housed in another building, so I do not have them
in front of me when I make the catalogue record.

A sample of the maps I am attemping to catalogue are:
- Land utilization survey of Britain, Ordinance Survey maps (1960s and 1970s)
- Australian aeronautical maps - RAAF maps of 1943-1944.
- Admiralty charts - London - late 19th and early 20th centuries.
- Maps in the series France et des frontieres.
- European air maps from the war years.
- G.S.G.S. Army/air maps of the war years.

Please reply directly to me as I don't subscribe to this list.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Margaret Ferguson
