     The University of Delaware Library is weeding its map collection
of many superseded and duplicate editions of USGS 7.5 minute topographic
quadrangles.  Most of these maps date from the 1940s to the 1990s.  It has
taken more time than anticipated to pull these from the drawers, but they
are now ready to put into tubes for shipping.
 
     Maps are now being offered for the States of Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii,
Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska,
Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Washington,
and Wyoming to supplement the collections of map libraries.  Preference will
be given to libraries requesting maps of their own states, but libraries may
request states other than their own.  As these are technically superseded
or secondary copies, they will be recycled if no library requests them by
August 15, 1994.  Due to the volume, only whole states will be offered,
and requesting libraries are encouraged to share unneeded maps with other
libraries.  Postage will be paid by the University of Delaware Library,
with special thanks to those libraries who have offered us early editions
of Delaware topos in the past!
