MAPS, COLLECT POND AND THE AFRICAN BURIAL GROUND

The exhibition, You Are Here, focuses on several important maps of the
Collect Pond area in Lower Manhattan. Cheryl LaRoche, Conservator of
the African Burial Ground Project, and Claudia Milne, Assistant
Archaeologist of the Five Points Archaeological Project, talk about
Collect Pond, the excavation of the African Burial Ground and efforts
     to conserve the remains.

Sunday October 8 1 pm Reservations as above

     THE MAP PROJECT

Learn about the just-completed project, funded by the Natinal
Endowment for the Humanities, to survey the Historical Society's
15,000 maps. You'll also see a selection of 40 maps that offer views
of New York. [I suspect they mean you can visit the exhibit on the
second floor, which has 40 maps...]
