    A Special Symposium and Exhibit on the History and Function of Globes

The American Geographical Society Collection of the University of Wisconsin-
Milwaukee Golda Meir Library and Arthur and Janet Holzheimer take great
pleasure in inviting you to a special symposium marking the opening of an
exhibit of celestial and terrestrial globes from the 15th century to the
space age.
 
The half-day program will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 1996
in the Fourth Floor Conference Center of the Golda Meir Library on the
campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2311 E.  Hartford Avenue,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Please Note:
 
For the benefit of Chicago area residents and those attending the 12th
Kenneth Nebenzahl, Jr.  Lectures on the History of Cartography, there will
be special motorcoach transportation available between Chicago and
Milwaukee.  The motorcoach will depart from the Newberry Library, 60 W.
Walton Street, Chicago, at 11:45 a.m.  The return trip from the Golda Meir
Library will depart at 5:45 p.m.  The round trip fare, which includes a box
lunch, will be $25.00.
